A couple of weeks ago my old office computer died a horrible death. It didn’t suffer, but I sure did. I’ve been hauling my personal laptop back and forth from the house to work. We saved many files on a thumb drive, so I carry that little device everywhere I go. And of course, my laptop has the devil’s own software, Windows 10, loaded on it. Thus, we have been training this old dog a few new tricks. Thank goodness my new computer was delivered this morning. In fact, this is the first file I have typed using my new computer.

Yep, I am strutting around in tall cotton this afternoon.

We are pleased to welcome two more members to the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce.

MILLIE’S BAKE HOUSE located at 602 North Bullard Street in Silver City and we welcome back ADOBE AGAVE, located at 309 North E Street in Silver City.

Millie’s Bake House is a great little restaurant specializing in soups, sandwiches, and humongous salads. This past Saturday I enjoyed the large bowl of Green Chili Corn Chowder, while some of our friends ate the last of the barbeque that is a Saturday special. Millie’s is only open for breakfast and lunch, Tuesday through Saturday. By the way, that can prepare specialty baked items and provide catering. Call them at (575) 597-2253.

Adobe Agave is basically a green, bed and breakfast, vacation rental property. This beautiful adobe structure is over 100 years old. Whether you want to stay a night, a week, or a month… Adobe Agave is a special place to stay when visiting Silver City. To learn more, visit www.adobeagave.com or call 575-956-3386.

Here’s a tidbit that you might find interesting… this Friday, July 21… Sun Valley True Value Hardware in Silver City is celebrating a Customer Appreciation Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free food and drinks (non-alcohol) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sign up to possibly win a Char-Broil Smoker, Milwaukee Compact Two-Tool Set, Stihl Chain Saw, Patio Table and Chairs… and more. There will also be special savings through-out the day. Sun Valley True Value Hardware is located at 1401 Silver Heights Blvd. in Silver City.

I started out writing about how my old computer died. But the bright side is, I get a brand-new state of the art, sure-fire humdinger of a new computer with all the bells and whistles one person could ever want. It’s kind of like the new Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center. It may not meet every expectation that each individual might have for this kind of facility, but it’s ours. And I promise, there are towns of 10,000 people all over America that can only dream that they had a facility like our Grant County Conference Center. You know what I mean. There’s a whole bunch of little things that we don’t pay much attention to as local folks, that come together to help make Silver City and Grant County such a great place. Think about it. Name a town with just 10,000 people that has commercial air service to two large airports. Name a town of only 10,000 people that has a four-year university. Name a community that has about 10,000 residents that has a pretty darn-good hospital and cancer treatment center. Great beauty, great weather, good housing, good schools, a 3+ million-acre backyard... there’s no doubt about it. This is a great place to live! Got comments, want more information about the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce & Conference Center… call us at (575) 538-3785 or visit www.silvercity.org.
