The Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the New Mexico Hospitality Association to bring the state-wide organizations Regional Tourism Economic Summit Series to southwest New Mexico. The Summit will be held from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Monday – September 25, 2017 in the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business & Conference Center.

This event is a great opportunity for tourism stakeholders and leaders in Grant, Luna, Hidalgo and Catron counties to connect at this regionally-focused, tourism economic summit. The is designed to establish a forum to discuss pressing issues and emerging opportunities impacting the tourism economy in southwest New Mexico.

The grassroots feedback that comes from this event will help lay the foundation for the New Mexico Hospitality Association's advocacy priorities in Santa Fe during the 2018 Legislative Session.

Our goal is to establish the means for decision-makers to take our local economies to the next level. At the Chamber of Commerce, we believe we can help make this happen by sharing ideas and thoughts during this regional economic tourism summit.

The Tourism Economic Summit is FREE to attend, however we are asking people to register so we will have an idea beforehand of how many folks will be attending. To register, please go to our website (www.silvercity.org) and click on the Event Calendar at the top of the page. When the calendar comes up… click on the Economic Tourism Summit button showing on the date of Monday – September 25.

Panelist will include tourism professional from the area: Rita Garcia – Interim Superintendent of the Gila Cliff Dwellings; Becky O'Connor – owner of Casitas de Gila Guesthouses & Art Gallery; Michelle Munoz – GM at the Holiday Inn Express in Silver City; Jessica Etcheverry – Community Projects Director for the City of Deming,; and Sabrina Pack – Principal & CEO of SkyWest Media. Jen Schroer – President & CEO of the New Mexico Hospitality Association will be the moderator.

Our Summit topics will include:

  • Tourism Heroes
  • Tourism Economy Panel
  • And an Open Forum
