I don't know about you, but I was brought up believing that Christmas is a time for sharing. But I was never taught that Christmas is a time for stealing.

Dadnabit, every year it seems that we have morons running loose in our community taking this "time of sharing" to the extreme. Why some of our fellow citizens believe it is okay to steal from others is simply ludicrous. Last Saturday, during the afternoon daylight hours, some worthless person decided to enter a yard on Grandview and they stole the family's Christmas lights. The children at that home were so proud of their lights. They helped put them in place. The kids knew that the lights really showed their Christmas spirit. And then in one afternoon, some idiot ruins Christmas.

It's more than likely that our local thieves don't subscribe to the paper (they probably steal them from paper boxes). However, if any of the rotten thieves around Grant County are reading this article and your feelings get hurt because I have called you morons and idiots… please feel free to call the police and tell the officer that you may be a thief… but you are not a moron or an idiot, and you would like to file slander charges against me. Honestly, I am cool with you doing that.

So, following the theme of sharing, let me share with you a few things going on with the Chamber of Commerce. Tomorrow, Thursday, State Representative Rebecca Dow will be the guest speaker at the December Chamber of Commerce lunch meeting. We hold our meetings the first Thursday of each month, usually in the Sunset Room of the W.N.M.U. Student Cafeteria. However, the University's Board of Regents bumped us out of our meeting space, so we will hold our meeting on the 3rd floor of the Student Memorial Building. The cost is always $15.00. We look forward to hearing from Representative Dow regarding the upcoming legislative session, as well as some of the things that have happened during committee meetings this past year.

On Friday – December 15, the Chamber of Commerce will help with a ribbon cutting and open house at the new offices of Insurance First. Chelsea Hotchkiss is moving from the present Bullard Street location to a free-standing building at 1024 North Hudson Street in Silver City. The ribbon cutting will be held at 4:00 p.m., then the open house will run from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to stop by and check out the new offices for Insurance First, LegalShield, and Air Shuttle.
