Honestly, it still seems a little warm for the first day of Fall to begin this Saturday. But whether it is hot, warm, cool or cold… the rest of the country will recognize that this Saturday is the first day of Fall.

With Fall comes the annual Grant County Fair. Yep, the fun begins tonight in Cliff at the Grant County Fairgrounds. I’m not going to try to list all the events for you, but I can share with you the Grant County Fair’s website address. That way you can look up all the things that make our fair a great event. It’s pretty easy. On your computer simply go to www.grantcountyfairnm.com .

It looks like the carnival actually opened last night and operates through Saturday evening. They will have various booths for food, jewelry, and crafts. The Gila River Band will play at the dance on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday morning there will be a pancake breakfast for all the early risers. And this will be the third year for the Baking Contest sponsored by County Commissioner Billy Billings and State Representative Rebecca Dow. One event that I want to see the winner of is the Giant Pumpkin and Giant Sunflower Contest. Then on Friday and Saturday, there will be lots of animal judging going on.

The Grant County Fair in Cliff is a great family event where everyone can have fun. I hope you’ll take the short drive to Cliff at least once to enjoy the festivities and cheer on the boys and girls who work so hard raising their animals.

On Tuesday – October 16 the Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center will host a SMALL BUSINESS EXPO at the Grant County Conference Center. This year’s event will feature an exciting lunch session with guest speaker Jerome Wade, sponsored by Freeport-McMoRan. He will present a program entitled “Unleashed! - How the Best Leaders Create the Results They Want”. The cost to attend the lunch will be $15.00. You can register online at the Chamber website’s Calendar of Events… or type this address into your browser:
