On Thursday – June 6 the Chamber of Commerce will help with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Del Taco. Yes, Del Taco has been open for several months, but they didn’t have a ribbon cutting ceremony. So, when they called and asked me if they could have a ribbon cutting… I said yes. Now you are invited to come to Del Taco in Silver City, next to Walmart… this Thursday at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Speaking of Walmart, we will have a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new “Curbside Pickup” program on Saturday, June 22 at 10 a.m. This new “Curbside Pickup” service will actually begin on Tuesday - June 25. We hope you will join us for the ribbon cutting and other activities at Walmart on Saturday – June 22 from 10 am to 2:00 pm. The folks at Walmart promised that it will be fun!

Put on your boots and hats, because the Wild, Wild West Pro Rodeo comes to Silver City next week. It begins on Wednesday – June 12 and runs each night thru Saturday – June 15. Each year the rodeo is held at the Southwest Horseman’s Association Rodeo Arena just east of Silver City on Highway 180 East. Ticket prices are $15 in advance or $18 at the gate and the advance tickets are available at Circle Heart Western Wear, Lawley Dodge, First New Mexico Bank in Silver City, or First New Mexico Bank and Circle S Western Emporium in Deming. For more information, go online and visit https://silvercityprorodeo.com/.

We are getting ready for the Silver City Independence Day Celebration to be held on July 4th in downtown Silver City. You can get applications for the July 4th Parade or for Vendor Booth Space in Gough Park by visiting our website, www.silvercity.org... or call our office at 538-3785. Of course, you can always stop by the office and pick up the forms. The theme this year is “Made in the USA – Built to last!” Something new this year will be an Antique Tractor Show in Gough Park after the parade. These tractors were built in the USA and were made to last – that’s why they are still running! The Silver City Independence Day Celebration sponsored by PNM is going to be pretty great, so we hope you plan to attend.

We wanted to let you know that one of our Chamber of Commerce members, Tapas Tree Grill, has new dinner hours on Thursday and Friday nights. So here are the hours for the Tapas Tree Grill: Sunday and Monday – closed; Tuesday and Wednesday – 11 am to 3 pm; Thursday and Friday – 11 am to 7 pm; and 11 am to 4 pm on Saturdays. Stop by and have a meal at Tapas Tree Grill located at 619 North Bullard Street in Silver City.

The Chamber of Commerce office is open Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and we’re often times open on Saturdays. If we can assist you, call our office at 538-3785. As the management company for the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business & Conference Center, call our office to check on available dates for an event you might be planning. We’ve been busy with graduation parties, weddings, wedding receptions, birthday parties, baby showers, training classes, meetings, trade shows, funeral dinners, and more. We have multiple rooms that can be rented. And when we quote you a price… that is the total cost. We don’t charge for each table and chair you use. You don’t pay to access the Wi-fi. Using our audio/visual equipment is free with the room rental. Utilizing the rooms at the Conference Center really is a pretty good deal. Stop by 3031 Highway 180 East to check us out.

On behalf of the 320+ members of the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce, we hope you have a great week.
