This article brings up a very important point that is past due for logical review devoid of political correctness and political expediency.

That point is affirmative action and diversity goals in hiring and promoting in the work place as mandated by the federal government.

Affirmative action is hiring and promoting by the forced application of subjective criteria, diversity, age, sex, race, national origin, etc.

It is not seeking out, identifying and hiring the best qualified applicant for objective reasons, work history, test scores, psychological and polygraph testing, education, etc.

I have personally seen how expensive and counterproductive this has been in the U.S. Border Patrol and was a major factor in the high attrition rates and ethics problems.

Time to put politics and feelings aside and objectively evaluate the results of affirmative action because it is the objective results that should matter rather than subjective goals.

When considering either path in hiring from todays applicant pool anyone that thinks moving away from the polygraph exam is a good idea in hiring for the U.S. Border Patrol, ICE or HSI, needs to rethink that position based on past outcomes, not expediency. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
