There is no doubt in my mind that liberals believe they know more about how to raise your child than you do. In fact, they know more about how you should live your life than anyone else. History tells us based upon the rules and regulations they continually put into place regarding your children; what you can say or where you can say it; what can be sold in stores (no Big Gulps).

Delaware is the latest state trying to tell parents they have little or no place in helping their children make life altering decisions. Sexual education was one of the first areas school officials usurped from parents; now it’s gender identification. The latest bill being considered in DE would allow school officials to talk to kids at any educational level about their preference for gender selection. The school would then conduct an assessment of the parents’ knowledge of their child’s situation and the parents’ willingness to accept any decision their child might make, in conjunction with school staff of course. But, the parents would not be made aware that an assessment was being conducted. School officials would talk to the child, along with the child’s teacher(s) and other school staff to create a picture of the parents. Well that should work just fine.

I will bet you dollars to donuts that any practicing Christian, registered Republican, or anyone even suggesting they hold conservative opinions will be ‘disqualified’ from participating in their child’s decision-making process. The prevailing liberal opinion is that anyone identifying as one of those groups would be bigoted and close minded.

Let me tell you something: a parent is the best person to be talking to their children about any life altering decisions they wish to make. Conservative parents love their children just as much as anyone else. I know plenty of heterosexual couples who love their gay/lesbian children just as much as anyone else. Are there bad parents who over react? Of course, but that’s true of all parents regardless of their political, religious or some other random demographic characteristic.

A parent should be involved in asking tough questions of their child no matter what problem they are trying to solve or what decision they are trying to make. Children simply don’t have all the information that adults have; a good parent will help them work through consequences of different courses of action. A parent will also help get to the real ‘problem’ or situation with which the child is dealing.

I had a daughter who voted for Obama for goodness sake. I didn’t love her any less. If one of my daughters came home and said she wanted to introduce me to her girlfriend, I would be surprised, wonder if she was doing this for attention, etc. But there is no doubt that I would continue to love her just as much as before. Being concerned about their kids making good choices is what parents do. When kids don’t make good decisions, we don’t stop loving them.

But liberals believe that you do. That’s why they have so many opportunities for parents to be kept out of the process, out of the discussion. They believe the “Village” knows more about raising children than parents and extended families do. How’s that worked out over the last 40 years? With ‘safe spaces’ where certain words can’t be said.
