Just a quick update to my column last week about our California trip and what we encountered: The last night we were there, we went to a local park to play tennis. A ball was hit over the fence, the opposite end from the gate. A man was standing about 10’ away from the ball so my partner asked if he would mind getting it. “Is it in the weeds?” he asked. No, it’s right there in front of you. Mind you there were not any weeds, just a few bushes around the outside of the fence, this was Palm Desert after all, they don’t tolerate weeds. “Oh, it’s in the dirt, I don’t like to go into the dirt.” He did not have to go into the “dirt” as he called it; it was that colored shale that packs down tightly, which he didn’t have to walk on, he could have stayed on his sidewalk, bent over, picked it up and tossed it over the fence. Instead he decided to walk away, right after his dog made a deposit on the sidewalk, which he left, no doubt believing one of the illegal aliens maintaining the park would clean up after him.

Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and their friends in the media are accusing President Trump of “assaulting the norm” in America. I would agree he is assaulting the norm of D.C. politics but who is really assaulting the norm? You readers know the answer, but on the off chance that there is a Democrat Socialist reading today, let’s state the obvious.

The Democrats are trying to change the way we elect the President, pushing us towards being a democracy by eliminating the Electoral College completely or at the very least, taking power away from the states by giving EC votes to the winner of the popular vote nationwide. That would give more relative power to a few large urban centers, where there are not only more liberals, but more people dependent upon government largesse to meet their needs. Fly over country would be completely ignored. Two times in history the winner of the EC vote has lost the popular vote nationwide, but both times saw the Democrat lose. When liberals lose, it’s not because of their proposals, policies, past actions or the candidate, it’s because the system was rigged against them. Never mind that the system works just fine when they win.

Most of the candidates for the Democratic party’s nomination for President have endorsed changing the Supreme Court in some way, since it’s not fair that conservatives outnumber moderate or liberal justices. It was just fine when liberals outnumbered conservatives, mind you. They have proposed several ‘solutions’ to the problem; expanding the number of justices, which they believe would benefit them since one of them will defeat Trump. How about imposing term limits? Fine, but let’s also impose term limits on all federal judges along with members of Congress. Finally, how about allowing a newly elected President to replace 2-3 judges immediately upon their election to office? Of course they won’t like any of these proposals if a conservative is elected to the Presidency.

Since letting illegal immigrants vote didn’t work in 2016, the liberals want to lower the voting age to 16 so they can “capture them while they’re young,” as Nancy Pelosi put it. Since the education system in America has become more of an indoctrination system, she knows that 16- and 17-year-old ignorant minds can be scared into voting for the Democrats, who really want to stop climate change, racism, bigotry, gender identification, Christianity, or any of the other very serious threats to the existence of humankind. These are the very same youths that are not responsible enough to own a gun, drink a beer, or work a minimum wage job. But they are mature enough to have sex and get an abortion without consulting their parents, so that might be a wash.

Speaking of getting an abortion, the Democrat elite also want you to be able to kill a viable fetus, even after it’s been born, but don’t want you to kill a coyote, wolf, silvery minnow, or any other form of wildlife. Even their own supporters are not in favor of late-term abortions but that doesn’t matter. Neither does it matter that most of the members of their party’s rank and file are gun owners; they will get rid of guns that are in the hands of the proletariat, so the political elite and government forces would be the only armed people in the country.

Tell me again, who is actually assaulting the ‘norm’?
