Liberals love to use science in supporting their positions on a whole host of issues. We are often told that there is a consensus in the scientific community; sometimes we are told that no one disagrees. Yet history is replete with examples where the scientific consensus was wrong.

We are told that climate change is caused by man's actions. Never mind that it was global warming until the scientists were proven wrong in every prediction they made. So now it's climate change and we are all going to die in 10 years. Never mind that we were going to die in 1989, 2000, 2010, and pretty much every decade or so for the past 40 years.

Richard Rood is a professor of climatology at the University of Michigan. He released a report earlier this month that showed the water levels in Lake Erie & Lake Superior were at record levels. He expects Lake Michigan & Lake Huron to follow suit soon. Rood claims the increased water levels is clear proof that we are seeing the negative effects of global warming. Really?

Let's look at several times Rood and his fellow scientists making up the consensus of opinion predicted something a little bit different:

In 2008 Scientific Daily published a study that said declining water levels in the Great Lakes were proof that climate change, specifically global warming, was having negative effects upon our environment.

in 2009 Columbia University's Earth Institute warned us that global warming was continuing to cause lower water levels in the Great Lakes. They were certain this trend would continue resulting in a drop of just over 8' in the water levels in the next 100 years; unless of course we changed our behavior.

In 2011 the Union of Concerned Scientists sounded alarm bells by telling us the dropping water levels in the Great Lakes was going to be 'severe & significant' especially in Lakes Michigan & Huron. Again, man-caused climate change was to blame.

Finally in 2013 the Natural Resources Defense Council reviewed several studies & polled hundreds of climate & environmental scientists; the clear consensus among those studies & experts was that the decreasing water levels in the Great Lakes were going to continue for the next century. The water levels would never return to what we considered 'normal' levels & the negative results on our lives would be far reaching and significant.

Why did I say 'finally'? Because in 2014, water levels in the great lakes began to rise. Then again in 2015, 16, 17 and so on. Until we reach the record levels recorded by Professor Rood this year. So what changed? I thought it was pretty well established that water levels were going to decrease for 100 years?

In truth, nothing changed. The climate scientists and related industries make money off of creating fear among the populace, which in turn leads to regulations being promulgated by elected officials and enforced by bureaucrats. This all leads to more money being poured into the industry. Scientists get paid loads of money to conduct studies and make recommendations. Businesses get paid money to create systems that will reduce emissions or somehow help reduce mankind's negative effects on the environment.

Each and every prediction made by the climate scientists, from global cooling to rising sea levels to destruction of biospheres has been wrong. Every time, not just once or twice but every claim they have made has been wrong. Every solution they have put in place has not prevented the catastrophes they predicted.

The truth is we just don't know enough about our climate and our weather systems to be able to accurately assess what impact, if any, we are having. We don't know if that impact is positive or negative or if it does have an impact. In the grand scheme of things, we have about 1 second worth of data that is reliable; that is not enough to be able to make a valid scientific conclusion.

But it is enough to fool the masses and keep yourself in tall cotton for decades. So you can fly your private jets to Italy or Monte Carlo and talk about how you are going to fleece us next year.
