Two volunteer firefighter sisters went through training at Doña Ana Community College and received their EMT basic training at Gila Regional Medical Center EMS with intentions to become paramedics.

Elizabeth and Bethany Coffey, owners of the Living Harvest Bakery and Three Questions Coffee House, are now stationed at the Mimbres Valley EMS Building and will be responding to calls in the area. Their coverage will be from the Gila Cliff Dwellings through Lake Roberts to the Mimbres Valley. This includes the Lower Mimbres, Faywood and the Junction of Highway 180 and 61 as well as Emery Pass in the Black Range.

"Having an Ambulance at the Mimbres Valley Station, will shave 30 minutes off of any response time in the area." Said Eloy Medina, Director of GRMC's Emergency Services. "Bethany and Elizabeth stepped up to the plate after the original staff moved out of the area years ago."

Both Bethany and Elizabeth are trusted and recognized people in the Mimbres Valley. They will be familiar faces responding to the emergency needs of the community.
"It's a lot of responsibility, but we really love it." replied the sisters when asked about how they felt about their new role.
