Wednesday Eve 12/27, Freemasons installed the officers of 4 Grant County Masonic Lodges for the ensuing year, in celebration of the festival of St. John the Evangelist. Silver City Lodge #8 hosted the open installation, which was attended by people from around the area. Light refreshments were served to the public after the installation.

The Masters for the up coming year and their respective Lodges are:
Bill Negal IV Silver City #8, Jason Hamilton Mimbres #10, Darwin Bleak Santa Rita #44, and Jeff Larkin for Hurley #55. The installing officers for the evening were: Val Brahm Master, David Fischer Marshall & Secretary, and Bruce Tolhurst Chaplin.

Masons (members of Freemasonry) are the initial starting point for all of the Masonic "Appendant Bodies", i.e. you have to be a Mason in good standing to belong to the Shriners, Knights Templar, Scottish Rite, Order of the Eastern Star, and others, which make charity their primary effort.
