The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, and families.

This annual celebration happens in April and the purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

Community Partnership for Children (CPC), a not-for-profit organization that promotes excellence in the care and development of young children, will distributed art/ literacy supplies to local child care centers and family group homes. Funding was made available by CPC and B.P.O.E Elks Lodge #413. Anita Rios and Kelli McGhiey, staff of CPC distributed the baskets Friday to 7 Centers and 5 Family Group Homes.

CPC currently sponsors a shared services project connecting child care centers to support meeting the economic development need in Grant County. The Grant County Early Care & Education: LINKS is coordinated by Terry Anderson and funded by Freeport McMoRan Community Investment Funds, Thornburg and Con Alma Foundations.

CPC's one fundraising effort is participating in the annual Give Grandly event which will be held May 5th at the Silver City Farmers Market. All donations to CPC help to further the important work of building the shared service network. Contact cpc.grantcounty.nm@gmail.com or 575-590-2499 for further information.
