Preceptor Tau chapter of Beta Sigma Phi recently celebrated Founder’s Day at the Buckhorn Saloon. The night’s festivities began with the Pledge of Allegiance, Opening Ritual, the Beta Sigma Phi Grace. Members welcomed visiting sister Jayme Schwantes who moved to Illinois last year.

Following dinner, the Founder’s Day Pledge was recited. President Kathy Terry announced the 2018-2019 theme, “A Quilt of Friendship.” Program chair Shelley Topmiller presented Leticia Obar with Program of the Year for her program on hands-on rock painting for the Rocking around Silver City movement. Angie Garcia was presented with the Golden Circle ritual for her 50 years of membership in Beta Sigma Phi. Angie was previously honored as the chapter’s Valentine Sweetheart. Founder's Day is one of the concluding highlights of the chapter year.

Next month the chapter will have installation of officers for the coming year, and are also planning to host other local sorority chapters for a Mother’s Day luncheon. Beta Sigma Phi is an International organization that is a social and service network for women of all ages. It encourages women to expand their knowledge through cultural and social outings and programs.
