Chad Paavola, an instructor with WNMU's Police Academy, did a self-awareness class for Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest. Using practice pepper spray they practiced several scenarios then practiced how to use the pepper spray. Annette Toney, Membership Manager for Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest, said if they take just one thing away from this class it's they were told how to lower the chances of being a victim, by always being aware of their surroundings. For more information on Girl Scouts call Annette Toney at 538-2481 or e-mail at atoney@gsdsw.org. At Girl Scouts we focus on what girls need in order to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
