alirezSilver City, NM, October 11, 2018—For Immediate Release.  The Gila National Forest, Silver City Ranger District welcomes a new law enforcement officer. The Silver City Ranger District is the southernmost district on the Gila National Forest. It is comprised of three areas, the Burro Mountain region, the area surrounding Silver City, and the portion just west of Emory Pass on the Black Range. These areas combine to form just over 400,000 acres on National Forest lands.

The new Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) is Christopher Alirez. LEO Alirez just graduated the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and is excited to get to work on the Silver City Ranger District. Alirez began with the Forest Service on the Gila NF’s Black Range Ranger District in fire back in 2002. His most recent duty station was on the Sacramento Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest.

LEO Alirez is a native New Mexican who grew up in Santa Clara and attended Cobre High School. He states that he enjoys family time, hunting and camping; and that his wife and their six children are excited to be coming home to Silver City.
