jaredThe First United Methodist Church of Silver City,NM (since 1873) is extremely pleased to announce the recent appointment of Reverend Jared Secret as the new pastor.

On June 30, the First United Methodist Church of Silver City will welcome its new pastor; Reverend Jared W. Secret. Pastor Secret was born in Washington D.C. The son of a career Air Force Chaplain, his family moved quite often giving him the opportunity to see much of our country and Europe. They lived in Maryland, Colorado, Germany, Indiana, and Alamogordo, New Mexico where he graduated high school and played tennis, basketball, and baseball.

Pastor Secret answered his own call to ministry by teaching Christian Adult Education courses and serving in youth-ministry. He is coming to Silver City after serving as pastor of the FUMC in Melrose, New Mexico for two years, and three years in a dual appointment at FUMC of Crane, Texas and Union Church of Grandfalls, Texas.  

His professional experience includes 15 years of business management and 3 years of regional oversight in the mental health field. Pastor Secret has a B.A. in Psychology from New Mexico State University, a M.A. in Religion from Liberty University, and will complete his Master of Divinity from Harrison Graduate School in December. 

Pastor Secret’s family includes his wife of 14 years Jodi, daughters Jaden and Cameron, and their son Zane.  Jodi has a passion for her Native American culture and history. She has completed a B.S. in Psychology specializing in Addictions and Recovery and is currently working towards a M.A. in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling. Jaden attends college in Washington state, while Cameron will enter the 10th grade and Zane the 6th grade.
