d0fd poster winner2019In the annual Dia De Los Muertos art contest, 12 year old artist Micah Jo Huerta’s delightful  “My Spirit Animal” was selected as the winning entry. Inspired by the movie “Coco”, her artwork measures 9 inches by 12inches, and mediums are copic markers, highlighters, jelly roll and Crayola crayons. "My Spirit Animal” will be proudly featured on this year’s Dia de los Muertos poster and other promotional material. Micah wins “bragging rights” and a gift certificate contributed by Carole Czujko from Soul River.

Silver City honors it’s  Dia de los Muertos as a time of tradition and coming together of the community in remembrance of those gone before. This year activities include  a street festival and parade  on October 27th and ends on November 2  with a community wide ofrenda procession, plus mariachi music and a showing of the movie “Coco” at the Silver City Museum. Watch for a full schedule of happenings!
