On March 15, 2018 the Grant County Beat published my article – Praise and Gratitude for My Silver City Health Care Experience. This article referred to my highly successful total hip replacement performed by Dr. Robinson.

I sincerely thought that my writing could have an effect on the decisions of the Grant County Commissioners, but I guess not! My article, along with others that I read, seems to have had no effect. I am terribly disappointed; however, I’m making this one more effort to extend my wish for the Gila Regional Medical Center to remain as it is. Believe me, I’ve had even more experience since my first article was written.

My husband, Barry, passed away on Memorial Day. He had been terribly ill and had been treated twice in Gila Regional Medical Center during April and May including many tests and gall bladder surgery. He just wasn’t able to recover.

His final hours started with an ambulance trip to the emergency room accompanied by myself and my son. We were unable to care for him any longer.

We decided to accept the hospice care that the hospital offered us – to do everything possible to keep him comfortable.

I am so very grateful to all the people involved in my husband’s care. He and our family were treated with great compassion.

WHEN WILL I HEAR THAT THE GRANT COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HAVE DECIDED TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY?
