Hobbs, NM – The Pearce for New Mexico campaign released the following statement after the Secretary of State and the Attorney General filed responses to the campaign's legal action to allow the transfer of funds from a federal account to a state account.

"Even after delays and extensions, the Secretary of State and the Attorney General have provided no compelling reason why they refuse to follow the law and previous court rulings regarding the transfer of funds," said Pearce campaign spokesman Greg Blair. "This is a sad case of politics as usual, with elected leaders using their position of authority to attempt to tip the scales in favor of their party in the governor's race."

"This case presents an enormous conflict of interest to both officials as they use their power to benefit their own party. It's particularly alarming that the Attorney General, who has already formally endorsed the Democratic front-runner in this race, refuses to adhere to the law in order to benefit his chosen candidate. Voters are tired of this rank partisanship and abuse of power."
