Today, Steve Pearce voted for a so-called "compromise immigration bill" that included extreme anti-immigrant provisions. The bill had both Steve Pearce and Donald Trump's support, which tells you about all you need to know.

Pearce also supported an even more extreme bill which failed earlier this week. That bill contained an even larger list of anti-immigrant provisions, including cuts to legal immigration that would keep families separated, criminalizing undocumented immigrants, no protections for DREAMers, and eliminating protections for people seeking asylum.

Also, last night, NM In Depth's investigative reporting team revealed that Steve Pearce has been bankrolling his campaign with major donations from Allen and Rebecca Weh and their business CSI Aviation, which has received "hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts with [ICE's] office of Detention Compliance and Removal," and currently has similar contracts with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that may include the transportation of undocumented children around the country.

It is unacceptable and a betrayal of New Mexico values that Steve Pearce is funding his extreme anti-immigrant campaign with the suffering of kids and families fleeing violence outside our borders. Democratic leaders across New Mexico demand that Pearce return this money immediately.
