ALBUQUERQUE – Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver's attempt to revive the likely illegal practice of straight-ticket voting is now being slammed by Republicans, Libertarians, and Democrats alike. Shortly after the Secretary of State's announcement, Sen. Jacob Candelaria, an Albuquerque Democrat, called the maneuver out for what it is: a blatantly partisan attempt to tip the scales in favor of one party.

"Straight ticket voting is such obvious attempt to rig elections in favor of Democrats that even Democrats are calling it an act of 'vicious partisanship,'" said RPNM Chairman Ryan Cangiolosi. "Our democracy is built on the principle of free and fair elections, not partisan maneuvering that leads to one-party control. Candidates from all parties should continue to denounce the Secretary of State's likely illegal attempt to manipulate our elections in order to consolidate power for one party.
