Albuquerque, NM - Yesterday, Republican Congressman Steve Pearce listened to the concerns of New Mexicans living under the failed status quo of Obamacare and voted for reforms that will provide more choice and increase affordability in the healthcare market.

"We commend Congressman Pearce for boldly standing up for the interests of his constituents and voting to begin the process of reforming our nation's devastating health care status quo," said Republican Party of New Mexico Spokesman Tucker Keene. "Obamacare is collapsing all around the country, and maintaining the status quo is not an option. The bill passed by the House will help New Mexicans struggling with higher premiums and help create a patient-centric, affordable healthcare system in our country. Senators Heinrich and Udall must work together with Republicans in the Senate on this important legislation and pass a solution that will work for every American."

Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham and Congressman Ben Ray Lujan reflexively voted against the reform bill, despite rising healthcare costs and increasingly limited choice in New Mexico under Obamacare.

"When the bill reaches the Senate, Heinrich and Udall must not follow Rep. Lujan and Rep. Lujan Grisham's footsteps and ignore the many ways in which Obamacare has made life worse for New Mexicans," said Keene. "They know that the system is broken, and yet are shamelessly poised to let their partisanship get in the way of working with President Trump and Congressional Republicans to fix it."
