Southwest Print Fiesta Brings You the "Artist Proof" Exhibition Opening, Welcome Reception and Day of the Dead Steamroller Street Printing Activity on Friday, September 1, 2017!

Come join the Mimbres Region Arts Council in welcoming the amazing works of art from artists from all over the Southwestern region! The "Artist Proof" Exhibition will be organized by Kevin Lenkner, Executive Director, of the Mimbres Region Arts Council.

Artists from the Southwest have submitted their print artwork to be added to the "Artist Proof" Exhibition. Come to 209 W. Broadway (formerly Firecloud Traders) to see the exhibition which will be open from September 1 – November 1, 2017.

During the Welcome Reception on Friday evening from 6-9 pm, come meet the Southwest Print Fiesta's visiting artist, Professor James Bailey. He was born in New Jersey, and grew up in Minneapolis, MN. He earned his B.F.A. from the University of Minnesota, his M.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently an artist and Professor in the School of Art at The University of Montana. In 1998 he established Matrix Press, the publishing component of the print program, which brings in nationally recognized artists to collaborate in the production of limited edition prints and he is also one of the co-founders for the Annual Day of the Dead Steamroller Print Project, now moving into its sixteenth year.

We warmly welcome Professor Bailey to the Southwest Print Fiesta, where he will be instrumental in collaborating in the production and execution of the Day of the Dead Steamroller Street Printing activity. Several artists from the Southwest have created 36 inch by 36 inch lino block carvings. Each of the lino blocks will be Day of the Dead themed and each print will be done on material to create banners to be used at the Day of the Dead parade.

We invite the town to come out and celebrate the opening of the "Artist Proof" Exhibition and the beginning of the 2nd Annual Southwest Print Fiesta. Come out and join us at 209 W. Broadway St. (formerly Firecloud Traders) from 6-9 pm on Friday, September 1, 2017!
