dont drink the water rsTickets for the comedy, Don't Drink the Water, a Broadway hit by Woody Allen in the early 1960's, are now on sale at Vintage Fantasies, Gila Hike and Bike, and Vicki's Eatery.
Silver City Community Theatre's smash comedy will run madly on stage at the Old Elks Lodge, Texas and Market, November 10-12 and 17-19. Sunday matinee performances will occur on November 12 and 19, 2:30 pm.

"Vicki's Eatery offers an extra double delight for ticket holders attending one of the Friday or Saturday 7:30 performances," says Community Theatre president Ted Presler. "A performance ticket is $10. A full Italian meal served by Vicki's, which shares a building with the Elks theater, is $35, including the performance. Those special meals, beginning at 5:30 November 10, 11, 17, and 18, are really limited, so that theater goers will want to buy their Vicki's tickets as soon as possible. People can buy dinner-performance tickets only at Vicki's."

Don't Drink the Water, which became a television special and movie, tells the believable tale of an American ambassador leaving his Iron Curtain embassy in charge of his inept son, who is persona non grata around the world. When Dad disappears, things immediately get out of hand, especially after American tourists seek asylum from corrupt police and Dad's business associate from an oil sheikdom shows up. There is a rabbit involved, because the priest who lives upstairs in the embassy is mastering magic tricks.
(Not one of the hare's hair is harmed during performance, though the same cannot be said for the ego of the chef, who learned to cook in Queen Elizabeth's kitchen.)

Presler reminds live theater fans searching for laughs that director Bryce Wooton has selected sips of Don't Drink to present at La Esperanza Winery, San Lorenzo, Sunday, October 29, 2-2:45. "It's a free tasting of the full thing, to accompany tasting of La Esperanza's superb vintages. The afternoon's selections will whet the palate for a full, glorious romp."
