quebe sisters rsOn Friday, February 23, The Quebe Sisters present Western Swing and vintage country music in what promises to be a dynamite performance. The Grant County Community Concert Association sponsors the concert at 7:00 p.m. in the WNMU Fine Arts Theater. This concert received support from WESTAF, New Mexico Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Audiences are instantly captivated when these triple-threat fiddle champs begin to play and sing in close, multi-part harmony. Sisters Hulda, Sophia and Grace were ages 7, 10 and 12, when they decided that fiddling was what they wanted to do. Early on, they won solo and group accolades and then went on to win state and national competitions in their respective age groups. These days, decked out in denim and boots, or dressed to the nines in heels and makeup, the now 20-something sisters pay tribute to the artists that inspired them the most.

They have headlined their own shows and also shared the stage with music legends such as Willie Nelson, George Strait, the Gatlin Brothers, Merle Haggard and Ray Price. Famed Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs told radio listeners, "One thing is for sure, you don't see a group like the Quebe Sisters come along every day." Music great Jimmy Buffett said, "The Quebe Sisters simply stopped me in my tracks when I heard them the first time."

The Quebe Sisters will offer an Educational Outreach program for grades 1 through 6 on the morning of the scheduled evening concert from 10:30 to 11:30 in the WNMU Fine Arts Theater. It is free of charge to the children, and bus transportation will be paid by GCCCA upon request by the school. For more information, call Karen at 575-538-5862.

For non-GCCCA subscribers, tickets to the concert are $20 for adults. Children to age 17 accompanied by an adult ticket holder are admitted free (limit of two children per adult). Tickets, subscriptions and further information are available at www.gcconcerts.org. Tickets are also sold at the MRAC office in the Wells Fargo Bank building, The Place Gallery (Bullard at Broadway), The Pink Store (Bullard) and in the lobby at the concert.
