The Comcast Corporation and the Mimbres Region Arts Council are coming together once again on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the 17th Annual Comcast Cares Day.

Every year on Comcast Cares Day, Comcast brings together tens of thousands of Comcast employees, their families and friends to make a positive impact on neighborhoods across the country. Silver City will once again benefit greatly from this community event. This year the Mimbres Region Arts Council will beautify the blank slate walls at WNMU's Miller Library into a mosaic of book titles and handprints.

Join us at the Miller Library to create book spines and traced hands. Under the direction of Diana Ingalls- Leyba of Leyba & Ingalls Arts, Silver City school students already have made hundreds book spines to add to the new mural. "The project will show people what books are read in Silver City and will make a connection with the town and the university," said Ingallls-Leyba

Bring your grandkids, bring your grandparents, it's not just for kids, but for the whole community! Be a part of this mural and support the Mimbres Region Arts Council arts programming. For each volunteer who works on the mural, Comcast will donate to the MRAC. Comcast employees will provide hot dogs, t-shirts and snacks.

All members of the community who share the same vision are welcome to bring their volunteer energy. Comcast will provide free hot dogs and sodas for lunch to all who participate.
