May will be a busy month in Glenwood -- from unique labyrinth walks to the grand opening of a new gallery to the reopening of Mogollon, the ghost town that was basically shut down last year due to a multi-million dollar construction project designed to resolve the flooding problems from the past.

Both labyrinth events are hosted by Cordelia Rose at Whitewater Mesa Labyrinths. First up is “Walk as One at 1” for World Labyrinth Day in southwest New Mexico.

Admission is free although a donation towards upkeep is appreciated.

Bring your sunhat, your family and friends before 1 p.m. so we can start walking the labyrinth on time with the rest of the people in our time zone.

World Labyrinth Day has been established as a day for bringing people from all over the planet together in celebration of the labyrinth as a symbol, a tool, a passion, or a practice.

Whitewater Mesa Labyrinths is at 355 Bursum Road, a stucco house on the left after mile marker 3 on Rt. 159 off Hwy 180 between Glenwood and Alma. There is a labyrinth sign hanging at the red gate.

Disregard MapQuest, Google Maps or Apple Maps as they have us located 35 miles away on a trail up the mountain in the Gila Wilderness! GPS 33.3765, -108.852

Last May hundreds of thousands of women and girls, along with the men and boys they love, in 75 countries and on all continents of the world stood together in parks, on beaches, in churches, at graduation ceremonies, in their backyards and at school yards or anyplace they could find to stand in a global wave of humanity.

Participants ring a bell to signify the beginning of five minutes of silence to reflect on what can be done to make the world better for our children. The bells are rung again at the conclusion of the five minutes.

Participants will gather around a labyrinth and ring bells to signify the beginning of 5 minutes of silence and ring them again at 1:05 p.m, Bells will be available if you don’t have one. Whitewater Mesa Labyrinths will be open until dusk. Admission is free or a donation towards upkeep.

Bring a bell, your family and friends to Whitewater Mesa Labyrinths, to share in this unique experience. See directions above.
