Mimbres Region Arts Council (MRAC) will be hosting the 3rd Annual Southwest Print Fiesta! a regional artist print festival.  Join MRAC in upholding a new tradition celebrating original prints, the artists who create them and the people who collect them. Start your art collection with affordable art!

Now in its third year, the Southwest Print Fiesta is a celebration of all things printed! Join us October 5-7, 2018 in beautiful downtown Silver City, NM to experience the awesome variety of work being made by printmakers from all over New Mexico, as well as El Paso, Tucson, Phoenix, and all points in between. Come take a workshop, shop the vendor market, cheer on the steamroller printing spectacle, and soak up the inky good vibes.

The fiesta kicks off with a juried exhibition. This exhibition is a testament to the visual culture of resistance…a show of posters addressing the wide variety of political and social issues of our current climate predicated upon broad visions of hope, justice, and freedom. Reception runs from 5pm to 8 pm on Friday October 5 at Seedboat Gallery, 214 W. Yankie Street.

A unique Artisan Marketplace will be featured on October 6, 10 am - 5 pm, on Market Street between the Big Ditch and Texas Street. Come down to buy some amazing art, and meet the print artists. Watch printmaking demonstrations and try free print making activities for all ages! Artists’ booths will offer fine art prints, letterpress creations and more for sale.

We will tune up the steamroller at 11 am and every hour on the hour a large-scale hand carved artist block will be inked and placed on Market Street.  Once inked, a steamroller (think steamroller without the steam) will roll over the blocks to create large artist prints.  See it to believe it!

On Sunday, October 7, a slate of workshops and print making activities will be offered to those interested in learning new techniques in printmaking and letterpress. New in 2018: in addition to our deep-dive Sunday workshops, we will be offering several more casual drop-in sessions for those with limited time or budgets, or if you just want to sample a few different print techniques without getting your hands too dirty.

Come take part in this fascinating new Silver City tradition. Be there for an art-full day in beautiful downtown Silver City!
