(Courtesy Photo)The excitement is growing for the Silver City Dia de los Muertos days of remembrance and celebration beginning with a street celebration on October 28 and closing with the ofrenda procession on November 2.   

Now is the time to get your space reserved for the an arts and crafts or food booth for the Sunday, October 28, Silver City Dia de los Muertos street festival. In addition to traditional food and crafts, Market street will come alive with favorite activities! There will be face painting, making sugar skulls and masks, chalk art on the street, clothesline youth art and other happenings for the enjoyment of the whole family. Live music will fill the street thoughout the afternoon and conclude with a performance of Mariachi Plata that begins at 5 p.m.   The much anticipated parade starts at 3:30 and will be full of colorful entries, creative costumes and many delightful surprises.   

Other activities are planned by restaurants, shops and organizations in our community. It is a time for sharing memories with families and friends. On Thursday November 1, from 3:30 till 5:30 p.m., the Silver City Museum will have an opening reception for the Arte Chicano De San Vicente exhibition. Downtown galleries will welcome browsers and shoppers with special hours from 4 till 7 p.m . 

img 0327(Courtesy Photo)The Silver City Dia de los Muertos concludes with the ofrenda procession on November 2nd. You can join Angelica Padilla for music in the courtyard of the Silver City Museum at 4 p.m. The ofrenda procession proceeds from the Museum at 4:30 p.m. and will continue throughout downtown and ending at WNMU Student Memorial Building on the the 3rd floor.   

And on Friday, November 2nd, you are again invited to enjoy the hospitality of the Silver City Art Galleries from 4-7 p.m.
