November is a busy month in Glenwood with fundraisers and community gatherings.

(Photo by David Thornburg)The Glenwood Senior Center is holding its annual Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is one of the Center’s major fundraising events. It features unique gift ideas, hand-crafted items, baked goods and homemade candies.

Breakfast and lunch will be for sale.  There will be hourly door prizes.This year there’s a "Pick Your Prize" Raffle with three baskets to choose from. There will be a jar for each prize basket so people can pick which one(s) they want their tickets to go to.

The baskets are:

“Ranch Life” features a framed print “Remembering the Glory Days,” hand painted “Home Sweet Home” rock plaque, metalwork wildlife coat rack and other country décor. “Kiss the Cook” includes a portable grill, large bag of charcoal, fire starter, grilling tools, spices, a “Kiss the Cook” apron, and a $25 Albertsons gift certificate. “Pretty Wild” offers a collection of items featuring flowers, butterflies and birds that include a hand-painted gourd, a framed photo, a purse, a solar light, and rose potpourri.

Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, 12 for $10 or 25 for $20. Proceeds benefit The Glenwood Senior Center.

The drawing will be at 2 p.m. at the Holiday Bazaar at Glenwood Community Center, 14 Menges Lane, next to the library.

Other November events at the Senior Center include  a Veterans Dinner at noon Nov. 9  and a Thanksgiving luncheon Nov. 20 at noon. The center is located at 5108 Highway 180, Glenwood. For more information, call 539-2522.

Cosmic Campground Weekend is set for Nov. 2-4.  Also, on Nov 17 and 18, stop by to check out the Leonid Meteor Shower. Bring a friend, a red filtered flashlight, shade, lawn chair, and telescope and binoculars if you have them. Enjoy the wonders of the night sky. For more information, go to cosmiccampground.org. The campground is located on Highway 180 about eight miles north of Alma, NM.

(Publicity Photo)Movie Night at Glenwood Community Library will be held on Friday Nov. 9.  This month’s film is “Mamma Mia, Here We Go Again!” This follow-up to the 2008 smash hit starring Meryl Streep is both a sequel and a prequel. The musical comedy still features the music of ABBA with a fun, party-vibe. The original stars -- Streep as Donna, Amanda Seyfried as her daughter Sophie, and Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård as Sophie’s possible fathers are all here as well as a new crop of young people exploring the tiny Greek island where the original film was set. Lily James plays the young Donna in the flashbacks to 1979.  Showtime is 7 p.m. at the library, 14 Menges Lane, Glenwood, New Mexico 88039.

(Photo by David Thornburg)Glenwood Woman’s Club Turkey Dinner, is scheduled for Nov. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. this year at the Glenwood Community Center, 14 Menges Lane, Glenwood. Join your friends and neighbors for a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings, drinks and desserts included.  Adults $10, children, $5. Take-outs are welcome.

Every Saturday

The Glenwood Street Market, featuring arts and crafts, and food, is growing. New vendors are adding even more variety to the selections. It is open from about 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Highway 180 in downtown Glenwood.
