Tickets for “Deathtrap” are on sale at Vickie’s Eatery on Market Street and Morning Star on N. Bullard Street, according to Hallie Harris, the play’s producer for the Silver City Community Theatre.
“This comedic thriller, full twists and gasps and laughs, will form the perfect bridge between manic Black Friday sales and Christmas sugarplums,” says Wendy Spurgeon, director.
Using the Little Theater at Silver High, the community acting company will stage eight performances: Fridays, November 30 and December 7, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, December 1 and 8, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays, December 2 and 9, at 2 p.m.
By Ira Levin, “Deathtrap” had enormous success on Broadway, says Harris. “The play holds delighted audiences spellbound till the final curtain.”
In the cast of five, Peter Fishburn, Mary Ann Marlar, Thomas Leeper, Liz Mikols and Greg Bond weave multiple webs of deception as their characters scheme and mislead. Mikols, whose “over-the-top” forensic psychic is “a joy to play,” believes the play enables an audience to “leave their cares behind for a couple of hours.”
“We very much appreciate the cooperation extended to us at Silver High. We hope that some Silver students will find Community Theatre something they’ll want to explore,” says Harris.“I’m inviting the whole region to one of our eight performances,” adds Spurgeon. “If people buy tickets now, they get a 20 percent discount. How good is that? A bargain for great theater.”
