Get Colorful for a Great Cause!

Big Brothers Big Sisters is hosting a brand new, colorful, fun event to raise funds and awareness for its successful youth mentoring program. The Run for Kids’ Sake 5K Color Run will take place on Saturday, April 27, starting and ending at Penny Park.

A color run is a fun spin on the traditional 5k walk/run. At the starting line, at 3 locations along the 5k course and at the ending line, participants will be showered with bright colorful, harmless cornstarch powder. Additional packets of color can be purchased for participants who want to add to the festivities.

Registration is $25 until March 31, and goes up in price after that date. Limited day of registration will be available. Registration donation includes a t-shirt, race bib and one color packet. A child may walk free with a registered adult, but will not receive the shirt, bib and color. Proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters youth mentoring program.

The finish line of the race is a party with live music, food trucks, and information booths from sponsors and other non-profits in the community serving families.

“We wanted a more visible and fun way to raise funds in Silver City, and chose a color run because it is new and different.  We hope the community will support this event because it is fun, and learn more about the Big Brothers Big Sisters program as well.” said Dawn Starostka, Regional Director.

Sponsorship opportunities exist for local businesses to support Big Brothers Big Sisters, have some healthy colorful fun with their employees and get great exposure for their brand. Local non-profits that serve children and families in the community are welcome to participate in the Penny Park fun with a free booth. And registration is open for participants who want to take part in the event.
