30The Copper Cowbelles made cow cookies and beef jerky for the reception of the current exhibit Ranching in Grant County. On April 9 from 12:30 to 2 pm in the Silver City Museum Annex, current and prospective volunteers will gather to enjoy gifts, prizes, trivia, and hors d’oeuvres catered by Corner Kitchen. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is curious about volunteering at the Museum to meet current volunteers and staff and get to know the many opportunities to get involved with the museum.

Each volunteer will receive a door prize, with additional prizes being offered to the winners of Grant County Trivia contest. Staff will also be present to update volunteers on their various departments, and to answer any questions about volunteering in those departments. The Silver City Museum’s new Interim Director Bart Roselli will also share exciting visions for the future of the Museum and the volunteer program.

Volunteers provide critical service in many areas of museum life. They help out with greeting and informing guests about the Museum and its exhibits. They help in the Museum Store. They help develop and implement education programs for children and adults alike. They help change exhibits, manage the collection, and participate in fun Museum events like Victorian Christmas, exhibit receptions, and of course the upcoming Ice Cream Social on July 4.

The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand, and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching, and interpreting the region's unique history. Admission is free; a suggested donation of $5helps support the museum’s education programs, collections care and exhibitions.
