From April 20 to April 28 Gila Cliff Dwellings Staff, along the other National Parks sites, will be celebrating National Park Week.

Kick off the week with Junior Ranger Day on Saturday April 20. Children of all ages are invited to participate Enjoy hiking the trail to the dwellings or attend “Living the Life” in the Trailhead parking. Grind corn with a mano & metate, learn to throw an atlatl or paint your own “pottery” bowl. Join a ranger for a special nature walk and journaling activity from 10 am until 11:30 am or a guided tour of the dwellings at 1 pm. All fees for entry to the monument are waived for the day. Events will begin at 9:30 am and end at 4 pm.

Rangers will provide guided tours of the monument starting at 1 pm on Sunday April 21, Friday April 26 and Saturday April 27. Tours begin at the dwellings, so plan on starting the trail around 12:30 pm to arrive on time. The tour is 45 minutes with no additional charge.

To end National Park Week, join rangers for ParkRx (Park Prescription) Day on Sunday April 28. ParkRx Day is a national celebration with activities taking place in parks and green spaces around the country. We want you to utilize parks, trails, and open space for the purpose of improving your individual and community health! Get out and enjoy the trails. Join a ranger for a meditative nature walk and learn about the benefits of nature journaling at 10 am Sunday April 28. Be prepared to hike 1-2 miles. You can also help us to better the community by picking up trash along Route 15 starting at 9 am and through-out the day. You can also join a ranger at 1 pm for a guided tour of the dwellings.
