Silver City -- Community members of all ages are invited to participate in the 2019 Summer Reading Program at the Silver City Public Library. This year's theme is “A Universe of Stories," and the program offers activities for all ages, including special guest performers, hands-on activities, movies, games and story times. Registration begins Wednesday, May 1, and continues through the duration of the program. Those interested in signing up can do so by visiting the library front desk, bringing their library card if they have one.

Reading program participants will be eligible to win a number of great prizes awarded weekly, including free movie tickets and passes to the municipal swimming pool for youth, and T-shirts, booklights and other prizes for adults. A number of amazing grand prizes will be awarded as well, including telescopes, a seven-inch Fire Tablet with Alexa, a Sky Rider Falcon 2 Quadcopter drone with video camera and a Laser X two-player gaming set. Adult grand prizes include two 60mm telescopes, a Kobo Aura e-reader and a $60 MainStreet gift certificate.

The program officially kicks off 10:30 am Tuesday, June 4, with a special performance by bilingual multi-instrumentalist musician Jordan Wax. A variety of special activities are scheduled from June 3 through July 26, including a special presentation by the New Mexico Museum of Space History on June 6.
