Play-writing for Everyone!

Play-writing for Everyone!, workshop facilitated by Silver City playwright Brenda McFarlane, participants will learn the basics of writing a 10-minute play. The workshop will take place, July 20, 10 to 1 pm, at the Historic Elks Clubhouse, 315 N. Texas St, downtown Silver City. The workshop is free for SCCT members, $20 for non-members. No advance registration; just come on July 20 and register between 9:30 and 10 am. In September, an ensemble of SCCT actors will present An Evening of 10-minute Plays. Everyone is encouraged to submit a 10-minute play not just participants in Play-writing For Everyone!

Audition for Shakespeare in the Park

On July 27 there’ll be auditions for an August 10 production: Shakespeare in the Park. Auditions will be  10:30 to 12 noon at the Silver City Public Library, 515 W College Ave. Those interested in auditioning should have a sonnet prepared beforehand. Participants can choose to prepare one of the following sonnets: 18, 29, 30, 55, 73, 116, 129,130, 139. Coming with a sonnet rehearsed is highly encouraged but not required to audition.
Shakespeare in the Park a free public event, will take place in Gough Park, 4 to 6 pm on August 10. "Four readers will present 16 of Shakespeare’s sonnets. Together they tell a story of friendship, lust and betrayal,” according to director, Frost McGahey.
