Take a bite out of downtown Silver City, NM on Labor Day weekend, as chefs serve up their culinary delights for the 19th annual Taste of Downtown!  Walk around downtown on Saturday, August 31 from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and get delicious tastes from fifteen eateries. Restaurants, a local brewery, and specialty food establishments are offering delicious, sweet and savory tastes for only $20 a ticket.

Single Socks is again generously donating a gift basket full of delights for free drawings to be held during the Taste of Downtown. Diane’s Restaurant has also donated gift certificates and Main Street Gift Certificates will also be included in the free drawings.

The Taste of Downtown drawings will be available only to ticket holders. There will be additional free drawings for the Love Local Celebration and everyone is welcome to enter.

Single Socks is a Community Thrift Store dedicated to supporting anti-hunger projects.  The store is located at 111 West College Ave and is a favorite store for many Grant county residents.  The free drawings will be at the Taste of Downtown and Love Local headquarters located at The Hub on the corner of Bullard and 6th Streets from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday, August 31.

Some of the tastes to be enjoyed this year include mini sandwich of slow cooked pork with coleslaw and chipotle cream at the Corner Kitchen, a natural and vegan taste at Potala Palace, Italian meatballs in sweet basil red sauce with locally grown basil at Vicki’s Eatery, Black Bean Quinoa Soup at Tapas Tree Grill, and brownies at Honeebee Goods, to name a few of the sweet and savory tastes that will be served. Other participants include Little Toad Creek, Tranquil Buzz Coffee House, Diane’s Restaurant, Silver City Food Co-op, Diane’s Bakery and Deli, The Fry House, The Mint Chip, Mick’s 33 Lounge, and Q’s Southern Bistro. Silver City MainStreet is grateful to the participating eateries for their support!

Patrick Hoskins, MainStreet Board President states, “If you haven’t been downtown recently, this is the day to come downtown and have fun tasting some delicious local food and discovering our great local restaurants. Thirty downtown Silver City businesses are also participating in the Love Local Celebration offering deals, discounts and more free drawings.”
