All Cobre graduates, especially from the first graduating class from Cobre High School in 1959, the first to attend all four years at the new school, are invited to attend the 60th Cobre High School reunion Sept. 20-22.

The schedule is below:

Friday:

12 noon Sign in starts at the Fort Bayard Theater with a meet and greet

1 p.m. Mining tour leaves by bus, led by Terry Humble

3 p.m. Mining tour returns to Fort Bayard

4 p.m. Welcome and review weekend plans

4:30 p.m. Pizzas

5:30 p.m. Head to Cobre High School

About 6 p.m. At the Cobre H.S. basketball court Remembrance of the departed classmates by Mary Tovar and a walk down memory lane

 

Saturday:

8:30 a.m. Coffee and rolls at the Fort Bayard Theater

9:30 a.m. Tour of Fort Bayard led by members of the Fort Bayard Historic
Preservation Society. Golf carts are available for anyone needing assistance for the 1½ +/- tour

9:30 a.m. A Hurley troue led by Jacque Beech Berry, including a tour of the Old General Store and the attached railroad museum display. Carpooling for transportation

11:30 a.m. Lunch with friends followed by free time, private visiting or preparing for the evening get-together
4:30 p.m. Start arriving for the evening get-together at the Theater. Dress is very casual

4:30 p.m. Visiting, photos with friends, reviewing pictures of past reunions and a tribute to our classmates who have passed away put together by Irene Saenz. Also, a painting by Irene of the Kneeling Nun, which she did as a student and for which she won awards, and she if offering to one lucky bidder.

6 p.m. Dinner, buffet style, of a wonderful New Mexico favorite

7 p.m. A few comments and closing remarks

Until the lights go out: visiting, dancing and music from our High School years.

 

Sunday:

8 a.m. Coffee and rolls at the theater

Time for goodbyes, photos and the beginning of new memories as well as the refreshed memories of your growing-up buddies and activities during those very special Cobre High School years.

DRESS: Dress code is very casual. For example, Robert Spengler, who prepared this schedule, will be in jeans, boots and a casual sports shirt and his wife in slacks and a casual top. NOTE: You might want to bring a light wrap as the theater is not heated.
