The Southwest Festival of the Written Word is coming next weekend -- Check out the schedule and presenters!!

three redneck tenors rsSunday, October 1, will bring a special treat to Silver City Community Concert goers. 3 Redneck Tenors will perform at 3:00 p.m. in the WNMU Fine Arts Theater. Matthew Lord, Blake Davidson and Jonathan Fruge are a "new breed" in the world of tenors. They are classically-trained veteran artists who sing arrangements by award-winning composer Craig Bohmler. It's Duck Dynasty meets Carnegie Hall! Don't miss this unique combination of down-home laughs and big city music. This group of talented singers has been thrilling audiences since 2006.

Join us at the twelfth annual Mimbres Valley Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 30, 2017.

10:15 - The Rivers Bend Band - Gospel music (on stage)
11:00 - Sign up for the horseshoe tournament
11:00 - Wiebke-Fresian Horse Demonstration (on the track)
11:15 - Marilyn Markel - Presentation about Mimbres Harvesting (on stage)
11:30 to 12:00 - Announce the winners of BEST PIE IN THE MIMBRES (on stage)
12:00 - Horseshoe Tournament begins (left of track)
12:00 - Dan Simonis - Americana music (on stage)
1:30 - Mimbres Children on stage and the bike raffle winners will be announced
2:00 - Dan Simonis & the New Mexicans (on stage)
3:00 - Wiebke-Fresian Horse Demonstration (on the track)
3:15 - Silent Auction Closes
3:30 - Big Raffle Winners Announced (on stage)
4:00 - Festival Closes

Silver City, NM – A traditional Irish duo made up of fiddler Martin Hayes and guitarist Dennis Cahill will perform in Western New Mexico University's Light Hall Theater at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017.

Considered one of the most significant talents in the traditional Irish music culture, Hayes' interpretation of traditional tunes is considered soulful, the results of which are recognized worldwide for musicality and rhythm.

mary sojourner rsMary SojournerWriter and writing mentor Mary Sojourner is returning to the Southwest Festival of the Written Word (SWFWW), in Silver City NM, Friday-Sunday, September 29, 30, October 1. Her "Write Now: you only think you have forever" hands-on writing session at the Festival takes place Sunday, October 1, 10:00-11:00am, at the "A" Space Gallery, 110 W 7th St. The event--as are all Festival events and sessions—is open to the public free of charge. No reservations or registration are required to attend.
