Chaparral, NM - The New Mexico State Police is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the driver of a fatal hit-and-run crash which occurred today around 3:00 p.m. in Chaparral, NM. The crash occurred near 724 Luna Drive in Chaparral when Javier Acosta, (50) of Chaparral, was struck from behind by a vehicle as he was walking east on Luna Drive.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described by witnesses as a blue or black late 1990's or early 2000's model Dodge extended-cab truck. The truck was hauling scrap metal in the bed of the truck. The truck immediately drove away from the scene after the crash.
