Luna County

On Tuesday May 23, 2017, around 7:28 p.m. New Mexico State Police officers responded to a call of a man lying on the side of I-10 west bound at mile post 63.

The man told the officer he was a transient and while going through trash bins at Bowlin's Gas Station near I-10, had a verbal confrontation with two males. After leaving the area one of the males shot a firearm at the victim resulting in a bullet fragment striking him in the eye. Once officers arrived on scene the victim was transported to University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque with non-life threatening injuries.
