The Grant County Airport hangars sustained some damage during the Saturday later afternoon storm.
Rebekah Wenger, airport manager, said about 5:30 p.m., she received a call from a Forest Service helicopter pilot, who told her: "One of your hangar roofs is coming off."
"We lost about an 80-foot chunk of roof from one of the T-hangars, off the north side of the B T-hangar," Wenger told the Beat.
She said wind reports showed gusts of about 65 miles per hour out of the northwest at that time.
Wenger said a contractor visited the airport, today, Monday, and said it would be hard to find roofing materials, as there is a backlog of orders. Because of the situation, he is looking at trying to move the order up in priority so the hangars can be stabilized to protect airplanes inside.
"It blew so hard, it blew chunks across the Airport Road onto the field," Wenger said. "We had people picking up the pieces today. Thank goodness, no one was injured, and, other than the airport roofs, so far no property damage has been reported."
