Today around 10:00 a.m. Joshua Mirka was arrested in El Paso, Tx by the Texas Rangers, and El Paso Police Department.

Mr. Joshua Mirka escaped the Luna County Detention Center in Deming, NM yesterday evening, State, and local authorities worked throughout the night in an attempt to locate him, following tips and limited physical evidence.

Early this morning investigators made contact with known relatives in hopes that Mr. Mirka would attempt to contact them for support, and while the investigator was speaking with Mr. Mirka's Aunt, he called her. The number was traced back to a Bus station in El Paso, TX. New Mexico State Police Investigators immediately asked the Texas Rangers and El Paso Police Department for assistance, shortly thereafter Mr. Mirka was located and taken into custody.

Mr. Joshua Mirka was arrested on July 27, 2017 after a pursuit in the Deming area and was being held on a failure to register as a sex offender out of California. Mr. Mirka is also a person of interest in connection with an armed robbery in California.

This case is still under investigation with no further information available at this time.
