Silver City Fire Department personnel were called late Friday afternoon, Oct. 20, to a structure fire at 1835 Little Walnut Road near the old Water Works building. At 7:30 p.m., Fire Chief Milo Lambert, told the Beat, “Yeah, it’s just north of that (the Water Works building). So, luckily it’s not historic. My guys are still out there. They said it’s fairly under control, but it was a sizeable fire.”

An occupied house in front and two sheds in the rear of the property were destroyed by the fire, Lambert said, and no injuries were reported. Six personnel and two engines were on scene. No other stations were called in but some were on notice, he stated.

No cause has yet been determined.
