Reserve, NM, October 23, 2017 – Fire personnel reported smoke on Friday, October 20; the fires are from lightning as a result of thunderstorms that passed through the Gila National Forest on Thursday, October 19.

Eagle Fire – Located northwest of Eagle Peak Lookout and is at approximately 1/10 acres.

Peak Fire – Located northwest of Eagle Peak Lookout and is at approximately 10 acres.

Both fires are burning in the old HB Fire (1995) burn scar. The fires are moving through downed logs and are cleaning up snags and woody debris within this burn scar.

Reserve RD fire staff will be monitoring these fires as they clean up dead and down material on the forest floor.
