The Village of Santa Clara Regular Meeting took place Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the Village Hall. Trustees Olga Amador and Victor Arambula attended, as well as Mayor Richard Bauch and Mayor Pro Tem Albert Esparza.

Robert Padilla of the Neighborhood Watch committee reported working on the upcoming Cinco de Mayo festivities which will happen Saturday, May 5. The event is in partnership with the Brown Derby and will be held in their parking lot. The next meeting for the committee happens Tuesday, January 16 at 7 p.m. in the Armory.

Bauch reported continued anticipation for the new year and the many projects the village hopes to complete, from the transfer of Fort Bayard to the village and to the police department moving back into their building.

Richard Maynes of Occam Engineering explained the status of current projects. Most projects that were started last year are finished or in final review. Three remaining projects that are slated for this year are the safety gates and lighting, phase two of the Bayard Street project, and the reseeding project.

Three resolutions were passed by the trustees, 2018-16 which sets aside specific municipal property for the possible establishment of a public library. Neta Pope thanked the trustees for their trust in the Village of Santa Clara, NM Library Initiative citizen’s group.

The other resolutions were 2018-17 which transfers funds in order to balance accounts prior to the end of the quarter while waiting for outstanding funds and 2018-18 which is the open meetings act.

There was no closed session however Bauch recommended the hiring of Robby Ramirez, Billy Hudman, and Robert DeLao for the maintenance department. Bauch also said James Salas had met the terms of his probationary period and is eligible for a raise.

All personnel matters were moved and accepted by the trustees, effective Monday, January 15, 2018.

The next Village of Santa Clara Regular Meeting happens Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall located at 105 N. Bayard Street.
