Silver City Police officers were dispatched on Saturday, Feb. 17, at about 8:36 p.m., to 25th and Yucca streets in reference to a shots-fired complaint.

Being flagged down at the location, officers were told, according to a police document, a male had been shot. Officers then saw a white Chrysler 300 with a bullet hole in the front bumper. Several shell casings and one unspent round, all appearing to be 9mm, were on the ground in front of the car, and what appeared to be drops of blood.

A witness, the report stated, advised as they were inside the residence, his nephew went outside to get something from his vehicle, and they heard a few pops. His nephew, the witness said, came running in with a gunshot to his shoulder, stating, "I've been shot. Take me to the hospital." The witness advised they did take him to the hospital.
