The opening reception for the Western New Mexico University Expressive Arts Department annual juried Student Show took place on Thursday, April 5, 2018.

The winners were announced at the reception. They are:

Best of Show: Maurice Comacho for his bronze, "Let It Sink In"

Painting:
1st Place to Joseph Kinney for his painting, "James Hetfield"
2nd Place to Abigail Egge-Ogas for her painting, "Still Life"
Honorable Mention to Sierra Robinson for her painting, "Eggplant Pesto"

Sculpture:
1st Place to Maurice Comacho for his sculpture, "Ico"
2nd Place to Patricia Countryman for her bronze, "Victory of Patricia"
Honorable Mention to Keith Bounds for his sculpture, "Finger Breaker"

Ceramics:
1st Place to Patricia Countryman for her ceramic pieces, "Three Woodfire Cups"
2nd Place to Robert Arias for his piece, "Lorraine Where's Evelyn?"
Honorable Mention to Amelia Waters for "Rabbit Ruin"

Photography:
1st Place to Dominique Varela for "Project 1"
2nd Place to Sydney Paul for "There's An 'I' In Six"
Honorable Mention to Raven Myers for "Secret Life of Insects"

Graphic Design:
1st Place to Raven Myers for her design, "African Heroes"

People's Choice Award:
Robert Arias for "Lorraine Where's Evelyn?"

The New Mexico Watercolor Society-Southern Chapter:
Chala Werber for her painting, "Baja Delfin"
