The annual Dutch Oven Gathering continues in Glenwood, N.M., with cooks coming from New Mexico, as well as Texas and Arizona, to cook their specialties at the Glenwood Community Park.
Gale Moore, the late owner and publisher of the Glenwood Gazette, originated the Dutch Oven Cook-off years ago. After her untimely death, it sputtered for a year or two, but it seems to be back in full force in a new format, without a competition. Tickets for the meal sold out, as they have each year. Vendors also sell their wares, and a friendly competition of horseshoes also breaks out.
