The Grant County Commission met in a lengthy combined work and regular session on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. The meeting began at 9 a.m. At about 1 p.m., the commissioners went into executive session for "discussion of disposal of Grant county Property, including Gila Regional Medical Center. After 2:30 p.m. the commissioners came back into regular session. The sole speaker was Commissioner Brett Kasten.

"We spent most of our time going over the questions we had asked counsel," Kasten said. "The answers brought up more questions. We will make no decision today. It has to be done right."

In a statement from GRMC, Chief Executive Officer Taffy Aria, said: “It’s very disappointing that the commissioners were unable to make a decision after this prolonged process. It is the hope that they will be able to come to an agreement in the relatively near future. The process is becoming frustrating for all participants. The physicians and caregivers of GRMC ask that this be resolved quickly so strategic initiatives can be implemented.”

Arias finished by saying, “The physicians and caregivers of GRMC remain dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care in the region.”
